Robert Woody was born on December 12, 1950 at Huntsville
Clinic in Huntsville, Alabama. He was raised, and still lives, in Big Cove,
Alabama. Robert graduated from New Hope High School in 1969. He also served 16
years in the Army Reserve and Alabama National Guard as a light truck driver and
medic. In February of 1970 while at Army basic training he contracted spinal
meningitis. Robert has no side affects from this dangerous disease thanks to the
Lord, who Robert feels has a plan for him.
Robert graduated from J. F. Drake Technical College in 1973, took the state board and
received his license as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). He worked for Huntsville
Hospital for 28 years as an orthopedic nurse (Fall of 1973 until the Spring of 2002).
In 1986 Robert married Dreama Denton from Grant, Alabama. She died in 2002 from a
blood clot in her brain. Robert gave his life to the Lord in February 1997. He
and his mother created the bus ministry, with the help of a few others, for Cave Spring
Baptist Church. They led this ministry from 1998 until 2005. At that time
Robert's mother got sick and he had to stop working in the ministry in order to help his
mother. After her death in 2006, Robert restarted the bus ministry and ran it until
the summer of 2009.There is a preacher from Robert's early
life that made a great impression on him. His name was brother J. L. Ivey and was
Robert's minister from the late 1950's to the early 1960's.
Robert has a favorite scripture which is Mathew 28 verses 18-20 which
is the Great Commission. This was the scripture for his bus ministry.
